It is MANDATORY to have a licence to practice real estate in the province of Alberta. Real Estate Council Alberta (RECA) is the province's governing body for the real estate industry in Alberta. Currently, it has 12,000 Licenced Real Estate Professionals. Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) provides guidance, education, and licensing you required in order to become a licensed real estate professional. It provides initial education, yearly re-licensing courses, and ongoing advice, guidance, and resources to support your career.
RECA's eligibility standards to sign up for real estate education courses.* You must be:
- at least 18 years of age
- able to lawfully study and work in Canada
- able to provide specific government-issued identification (ID)
- have a minimum of Canadian high school education or equivalent
- be proficient in the English language.
